What is Pulmonary Fibrosis? Pulmonary fibrosis is when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. Over time, the damaged areas of your lungs become thickened and stiff due to scar tissue and this makes it harder for oxygen to get from your lungs into your blood.
My name is Shaun and I am a Respiratory and Sleep physician at Lung and Sleep and I have public appointments at The Alfred Hospital and Monash Health. I have special interests and expertise in asthma, pulmonary hypertension, and the investigation of lung nodules and lesions. I am also experienced in the management of sleep apnoea and other sleep disorders.
Throughout my training and career I have strived to do my best. I graduated top of my Medical class at Monash University in 2011 and was awarded the Gold Medal. In 2015 I achieved the highest score in the FRACP examination. I completed my training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine through The Alfred Hospital and Monash Health. I gained further experience by completing a training fellowship in pulmonary hypertension at Toronto General Hospital, one the largest and busiest centres in North America. I was awarded a competitive scholarship from the Toronto General Hospital Foundation.
Most importantly, I channel my passion and determination into caring for my patients. I am driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients, and I always do my best to support them through their healthcare journey.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Jenn, and we share a fondness for bushwalking. I also love running, reading and playing the guitar.
